Quale riforma della Chiesa?

What do reformatio and reform mean today? Undoubtedly, in today's ecclesial landscape, it is understood as a continual return to origins, to the Ecclesiae primitivae forma , or as the assumption of an ever-newer form compared to one considered obsolete. In both meanings, the underlying idea is to restore to its authentic form everything that has lost its impact and primordial "purity" over time. Reform affects the universitas fidelium and concerns the nature and mission of the entire Christian community, in its capacity to "inhabit" history, without being transformed by it. The authors of this volume, each in their own field of research, have offered their own contribution with scholarly skill and academic expertise, sharing the idea that reform is not a simple adaptation to history, nor a mere effort to "catch up with the times." Therefore, reformist action refers to that dynamism which belongs to the nature of the Church and finds in the presence of the Risen One its ontological condition of possibility.
